Dustin Welbourne, Ph.D.
Principal Consultant
With a Ph.D. in quantitative geography from University of New South Wales, Dustin has extensive fieldwork experience spanning the tropics to temperate forests of eastern Australia. He specialises in developing ecological research methods and applying both Bayesian and non-Bayesian analytical techniques to environmental data. In 2018,
Dustin was awarded the prestigious Endeavour fellowship, which allowed him to travel to the United States for postdoctoral research at Rutgers University and the University of Florida.
Dustin also holds a Master’s in Science Communication, which equips him with the unique ability to effectively communicate complex technical analyses to stakeholders, ensuring maximum understanding of research outcomes.
Jeff Thompson, Ph.D.
Lead Spatial Data Scientist
Jeff has a Ph.D. in remote sensing from the University of New South Wales and a Masters of Geographic Information Science from the University of New England. He is a focused and engaging data scientist with substantial history working in environmental science. He routinely applies statistical and machine learning to imagery and spatial data to glean information from raw data. Jeff has expertise with spatial technologies including ArcGIS, QGIS, and open source platforms.
Accustomed to working with and collaborating with stakeholders across disciplinary boundaries, Jeff has both academic and industry experience. He welcomes opportunities to apply his knowledge and quantitative skills, and to improve decision making. He is well aquatinted with synthesis and report writing on environmental issues.
